After the decision of Tiger Brands Ltd to divest from the East African Tiger Brands Industries joint venture, the East African Group in 2017 acquired full control by purchasing the shares of Tiger Brands Ltd and thus the East African Lion Brands Industries PLC was born. The EALBI manufacturing facilities are in the Dukem ( Bishoftu ) Industrial Park, 70 acres of land area, about 40 Km west of Addis Ababa.
The Dukem Industrial Park has adequate infrastructure road; power; communication links; central warehouse weigh-bridge and water. The industrial park incorporates the major industries owned by the group such as the biscuit lines, macaroni line, supplementary food line, soap and detergent lines, printing and packaging lines, the tea blending and packing, and the coffee roasting and packing facility. The industrial park has 8,000 m2 central warehouse, which is used to stock raw materials and finished goods for all manufacturing facilities.
The EALBI has implemented the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system and continues to invest in modern technology for increased manufacturing capacity and efficiency. Comprising of structured and professional management, the East African Lion Brands Industries PLC currently employs over 1,500 employees greatly contributing to reducing the country’s employment with the vision of being the most admired Ethiopian branded consumer packaged goods company.

EALBI’s food and beverage unit consists of a flour mill, supplementary food unit (Unimix), pasta and macaroni factory and biscuit factory. With state-of-the-art manufacturing and quality control facilities, our products are the brands of choice in the local marketplace.
Home Care
EALBI is among the leading soap and detergents producer in Ethiopia. This business unit strives to meet the home care needs of all segments of society, with products and brands tailored accordingly. Our diversified product portfolio includes laundry soaps, beauty soaps, powder detergents and detergent cakes.
Personal Care
EALBI’s personal care unit is involved in the manufacture of a range of personal care products. The unit has a portfolio of well over 50 brands – lotions and creams to shampoos. Products range from hair food, hair oil, nail polish, shampoo, creams, lotions and perfumes.
Flexible Packaging & Corrugated Boxes
The printing and packaging unit of EALBI exists to meet the in-house requirements of the company. The unit is engaged in the manufacture of corrugated boxes, manufacture of plastic containers (for personal care products) and flex graphic printing. Our machinery fulfill our group’s packaging requirements and serve external customers.
